Lynn,

I'm certainly not a vinyl guru, but I see vinyl attached to pretty flexible banners all the time. I don't know why a nylon flag would be very different.

Hi, Lynn,

The simple answer is, "Yes, vinyl can be applied to nylon."

However, the end product will not be as attractive as one might think because the vinyl is less flexible than nylon. Also, many vinyls will not adhere well to nylon.

If you are looking for material for car flags, screen printing or dye sublimation might be the way to go. If you want to create a simple banner, using vinyl receptive banner material available from many sign supply houses might be something for you to look at.

If you'd like someone to help you with your dye sub or vinyl banner needs, feel free to contact me by email for some fair pricing.

Michael

Thanks Michael for the info.
I applied large vinyl lettering to a 3x5 nylon flag. Im a little worried about it
since it will be used outside.
When I ordered the vinyl from signwarehouse They advised that it will work on
the nylon flag. I would have used a heat applied film but I needed a certain color.

Lynn

I would be sure to inform the client that his lettering on the nylon
flag - could be "gone with the wind". If the flag is hanging where it get
a strong breeze as it flops in the breeze the lettering will probally come
loose. Not knowing the exact vinyl and the nylon I cannot be sure but, from
my exprience normal sign vinyl does not do well on nylon.

Good luck

Joe

Thank You for that info.
I had that suspision that it may fall apart.
I was trying to give the customer the colors he wanted.
Would a heat press film work ok?

I do not have any real experience with the heat press film. I have seen it
used on shirts & other cloth but I really do not have any experience with it.
Sorry

Vinyl WILL NOT stay on the flag! As far as heatpress material, Thermo-flex Universal. That is the only material I know of that will stay on. John
