That is so tacky , along with toy dogs that bob their heads in the back of cars - Oh wait , I do believe you can get trophys like that too :)
Seriously , I can see em as a novelty item but I doubt its the next wave in awards.

I was interested at first, until I saw that it's just a stock recording. It might have a touch of value if the people buying the trophy (parents or a coach) could personalize the message.

Sei,

I equate the talking trophy to "Billy The Bass" or whatever the fish on a plaque, that sang the Bobby Darin hit, "Splish Splash" was called.

When they (Billy?) first came out, I saw one in the waiting area of a restaurant.

The first few times I saw/heard "Billy" do his act, I was amused. About the 10th time a kid went up and pushed the button, I was looking for ear plugs.

If a sledge hammer comes, as an accessory, I can see big sales of the talking trophy :-)

And that's the problem... like Billy the Bass, it's a pre-set, repetative, annoying, meaningless stock clip.

If a coach were to come in and I could show him a little button under the trophy which when pressed he could say, "Good job this year, Jimmy," "Keep your bat up, David, and remember to swing," or, "Timmy, your mom is hot..." and the trophy records it for the kid... it could be great, at least for the 5 to 10 year old range. And after it sells, how many times the kid replays it in front of his parents is none of my concern. ;)

Maybe someone reading this thread will make one. The record button should be behind a small hole or slot, and is pressed by inserting a "key". Even a paper clip could be used as a key and it'll prevent accidental erasure.

Sei,

I agree with the comments about trophies with sound being a short-lived fad or novelty. This is not an item you will be finding in my inventory any time soon.

There is one item with sound that I do quite well with. The item is an engraveable frame that allows you to record a short voice message. I market this to grandparents, and they love it.

Leeber is the company that wholesales the talking frame. I can post more details in the morning when I get to the shop.

I am not familiar with the pricing of the trophies with sound, so I can't share my opinion on the pricing.

:P $$$$$$$$$$ I saw the post on the talking trophies. What a gas. I bought 300 of these and have only 4 left. The baseball ones are the most annoying ones. The kids love them. I didn't think they would sell like they did. In fact I had a bunch of parents call to say thanks. Not in the good way. The kids are driving them nuts with them. Hummmm.. Not a bad way to drive parents crazy. I told not to worry the small battery will wear out and thengs will be back to normal. Tell the kids that the batteries can't be replaced. Anyway what a money maker. Maybe I'll put my thinking cap on and get that record your own message trophy made. The prto will say"SHUT THAT DARN THING UP OR IT'S GOING IN THE TRASH"
Seeya!!!!
