That's some great work, but I've never seen nor heard of black mirror, has anyone else. I certainly have never gotten any photos to look like those, but I'd like to!

I think the ones ID caries are from glassplax.
They have many sizes and colors and now carry crystal pieces to.

I needed some done in a hurry with easel backs instead of hangers and they are fast and very helpful.

We sell mostly smoke and black and usually people just order with
an engraved plate attached.

I do not attempt to do photos on glass but the laser logos and wording are acceptable with the right settings directly on the glass.

JDS also has black and clear in several sizes in 2005 catalog.
Not sure if those are glassplax.

John,

The JDS glass plaques are not from GlassPlax, but they are actually very nice. I order this glass by the case and suspect they are made by Slee Corporation out the Chicago area. This inclination is based solely on the type of individual boxes that they come in, and also that the case box is from a Chicago area box manufacturer.

David,

Are the JDS glass plaques still a "easals/hanging attachments sold separately" item?

David,

Yes they are. I use the JDS glass as an upper-scale plaque plate. The black mirror is sandcarved on the front, paint-filled with gold or silver enamel, then mounted on a rosewood or walnut piano-finished plaque. They look awesome and can command a high price.

I've also considered using gold mirror, sandcarved on the front, paint-filled black, then placed on a black piano-finished plaque.

David,

Wow! I'm all for high-end awards and that concept certainly qualifies.

Wow, or in Mainese - Ayuh, this is good stuff! I love when I learn something new. I gave up saying why didn't I think of that, too much stuff, too little time. I can't wait to get some mirrors now.

Thanks!
Jim

Are the photo stencils for sandblasting on the Quinlow site standard items or a specialised thing they have developed?

Jim,

Quite often, on web pictures, actual pictures will be placed on a product image to enhance them a bit. I'm not sure if this is the case with Quinlow.

The only photo-resist I am aware of that works well for photographs is Photobrasive's RapidMask HD. I've seen finished products using this resist and they looked nice. They were not as sharp as what can be achieved with a laser on marble or granite.
