I continue to have problems when trying to go back and edit posts....Ocasionally I won't get this error, but 99% of the time...I do.

Any help (other than a suggestion of no mistakes) would be appreciated....

:)

Thanks,

Brian Genrich

Brian,

No problem on the file size. I'll send your screen shot to John Fish.

Anyone else having this problem when editing posts?

I used to get an error if I tried to use preview when editing but it would work if I just applied it without a preview.

I just kept doing it that way. But it seems to work with the previw now when I just tested it.

I've sent Brian's screen shot to John Fish.

He'll either join the discussion, or I'll post his reply, when he gets back to me.

Here's the response I received from John Fish:

There are a number of characters that are considered hazardous
in that they could be used to pass malicious code so they are blocked.

The person must be trying to use one of these characters, it doesn't
mean they are necessarily trying to pass code (hack), but if I allow
those characters then it opens a vulnerability.

At least I THINK this is what is causing this error by the line of code
referred to....

If I knew more about what is being done before the error (the exact
text in the message, or this happens when they do ..... ) I could make
a more exact guess.

The first post in this thread causes that error....

I wonder if it's my sig line.....Come to think of it....That may be the culprit.

I will remove it for this post and test.

Thanks,

Brian

That's the ticket.......

Here is a copy of the code for my sig......

Let me know what needs to be removed, and I will remove it.

Or I could just dump the sig altogether. :)

Thanks,

You could try editing one of your posts and eliminate one line at a time of your signature until it works. That should narrow it down.

I would have to post several times then.......

I will try that if it isn't obvious to John Fish based on the code that he see's.

I can always delete the whole thread then if it's just all my posts.

Thanks for the suggestion Dave.

Brian,

I'll send that info to John, to determine what, if anything, needs to be removed.

Getting closer to the solution. :-)

Brian,

I know absolutely nothing about the coding needed, but yours looks totaly different than mine

here is what my coding looks like:

Brian,

John Fish didn't spot anything unusual in your signature code. He said those kinds of glitches can be "conditional."

We just don't know what those exact conditions could be.

If the problem persists, I'd suggest "throwing darts" at variations of the signature, until the error message doesn't appear.

Not a cure; just a suggestion. :-$

Brian,

I hate to see you go without a signature altogether.

Why not add the components, incrimentally, until you figure out what the offending code was?

Try this instead.

I took out the weird <br /> and changed it to <br> instead. It looks good in Dreamweaver.

Even with HTML disabled it is altering my post. The way to do it is whereever there is a "<br />" replace it with "<br>"

Now lets see if it allows this edit to stay.
