A question was just asked in the DSSI forum about an ad for a "system" to do full color dogtags "faster" than using a Metazza system.

Cherie's forum went down for the scheduled upgrade just before I could upload the info so here it is for Metazza users and Metazza wannabee's:

http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_archived_product_details.asp?fl=2&id=227

This is the printer being offered with a small heat press. The company also sells charms, hearts, zippo-style lighters, etc. for "fast" full color personalization.

Here is the ebay listing for those interested:

Steve,

Historically, that type of dye sublimation printer (at least when pressing coffee mugs) requires removing the mug from the press, (half way through the cycle), in order to squeegy air bubbles from the transfer; the mug is then placed back in the press, for the rest of the pressing cycle.

I wonder if that holds true with the dog tags and other products?

The company "claims" thier dogtags are also good for inkjet sublimation so I am guessing they are just the plain sublimation coating on them.

Steve,

I don't know if the soft coating, or the nature of the video prints, was the reason for the squeegy procedure.

I looked through the Ebay ad and saw that everyone buys from them and then resells, BS.

You can get the same tags at approximately 1/3 the price from One Flea Market, new name OFM, http://www.ofmimaging.com

They also sell that supposed heat press. My advice on the press is not to even think about it. Their tags and color coated tags are great. I have been buying from them for over a year and the worst thing that has happened was a few weeks ago when they lost my order. Our salesman left at that exact time, so it is understandable.

I was just responding to a question in DSSI when they went down. I was hoping the poster was a member of both forums.

It is a P330 printer (now obsolete), a "pocket press" and their dogtags.

OFM is also one of the distributors for the "Crystal Shield" machine, which they call the "Contour Shield". Sometimes we send customers there for the die cutters for the products. Our glazes and machines (same manufacturer) with their name.
