Hmmm...In perusing the Engravers Journal's "Materials and Supplies Advisory 2006", which comes with the recent copy of the their magazine, I couldn't help but notice this description of Unisub white aluminum:

This extremely durable white, coated metal is intended for sublimation and includes UV inhibitors that allow sublimated products to be used outdoors for two or more years without fading.

Most sublimation afficianados, would rarely, if ever, suggest any sublimated products for outdoor use, because of the strong likelihood (bordering on an ironclad guarantee) of fading.

Two or more years, outdoors, without fading?

Of course, the effects of direct UV exposure, the duration of that exposure and the area of the world in which the product is placed, play a distinct role, in the longevity of an image, but unless the science of Unisub coating has recently changed, I'd be very reluctant to state the outdoor fade resistance of Unisub metal to be anything beyond a year, to a year and a half.

Anyone seeing the two-or-more year claim holding true?

Dunno about the two years, but before they added better UV durability they were at around 15-18 months....so It is feasable to get 6-8 months out of improved UV additives.

I guess the best person to ask would be Paul Newman......

You must have his number somewhere. ;)

What was the "location" of the product used outdoor for two years or more? Alaska?

David,

That's my point.

I'm sure there are areas of the world, where limited UV exposure exists, but to boldly claim no fading, for three or more years, is misleading.
