The search feature has been updated to allow a search for down to two letters.

If you want to search for 'jds' just type in jds AND set the 'Use boolean query' to 'Containing all of the words'. It is an extra step to set this but it bypasses a bug in the search feature.

Can that be set as the default? That seems to be what most people expect from search engines these days anyway.

I will have to look into the code, it should be possible. I thought about after I made the change and posted it.

I am glad that someone else thinks it is a good idea also.

Search is updated to 'Containing all the words' as default. In addition to "from the beginning of time" it covers the forum.

Click on the search words box, enter the words, and press ENTER. That will get you where you want to go most of the time.

You can still change criteria, but this search is the most common by far.

Thank you Harvey.

That's a definite upgrade.

I like the "from beginning of time" change. I ended up re-doing searches a few times when forgetting that one.

I don't know about others, but the other one I use almost all the time is the "group results by thread". The only time I wouldn't have that checked is when looking for a specific post in a long thread. Most of the time I'm not looking for the exact post that matches my terms as much as I'm after the thread where those terms were used. But that may be just the way I use it.

Since it does not seem to be anything that will inconvenience anyone else it is now set to checked as the default.

Thanks for the suggestion.

A NOTE TO ALL
This brings up the first instance in a thread, you can go down the thread and all other instances are highlighted. It is the alternative to having ten posts in the same thread all listed.
