Thought I'd share this one. I have been working with a smaller electronic component manufacturer (specialty, high-end) doing laser marking on anodized aluminum face and back plates and other misc. components. The more the client sees what the laser can do, the more work they find for me! :-) They were especially thrilled when I was able to produce a black mark on their "clear" anodized aluminum components.

Also in this picture, note the 2 sets of 4 large capcitors, which tended to flop around a bit and stress the pc board. Their solution was a chunk of foam with holes in it. My solution? Vector cut 1/4" thick clear acrylic retaining plate with a precise hole diameter and layout to lightly press-fit over the cap's to keep them snug. Needless to say they loved the solution!
Added: I forgot to mention that one of the big bonuses of laser marking for the client was that they do a lot of small, special order units and the traditional screen print method for them was not cost effective. I.e. having to pay a $150-$200 set up charge for 5 or 10 pieces (plus the per unit charge after the set up cost)
