Here are some well done CorelDRAW X3 tutorials. They may be a bit basic to some, but will be invaluable to others.

Thanks for the post. The one on bitmap contours is very interesting.

My computer doesn't let me see them, says it needs a plugin, but it can't find one. I use firefox and it seems as though they block a lot of stuff.

I do not have X3 and was wondering if you think it's worth buying. I am using Corel 12 right now.

Thanks
Barb

Barbara,

I'm not necessarily one who is quick to upgrade software, but in this case I see some real tangible benefits.

For the Cutout Lab and Power Trace features alone, it is worth the upgrade. For you, the Cutout Lab alone is a great feature because I know you do a great deal of photo-engraving.

Thank you David,
Can you tell me how much it is to invest in?
Thanks

Hi Barbara,

I know this was directed to Dave but we just got X3 through www.JourneyEd.com since my son is still in school. He helps in the business when he can. It was just under $100. If you have kids in school you can qualify for it. Hope this helps. BTW, I have not used it yet so can't help in that department.

Barbara;

The videos require that you have Windows MediaPlayer installed and the plugins for Firefox. If you have Windows MediaPlayer installed, you can manually install the plugin for Firefox by following these steps Link:

Basically, you want to find this file: npdsplay.dll And copy it to your Firefox plugins directory.

Exit Firefox. Look or search for "npdsplay.dll" in C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player. Copy it to the: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins directory.

I think I paid about $121.00 for the upgrade version. I bought it through Amazon.com at a time they had a $25 rebate special.

Barbara,
I use Firefox also...and had no problem with the video. Firefox SHOULD give you the option of downloading the plug in....if it needs it. At least mine does

As for the upgrade to X3? YES!!!!! It is worth the money. As David T says, the cut out lab and powertrace are worth it alone. Power trace is excellent if you start with a great quality graphic.

Hope this is some small help.

I watched the first one, far beyond my ability to visualize the object to be created.

I went to the bitmap item and it is now a broken link to the tutorial. That one might have helped me.

When you finally understand it completely... it changes.
