out just dragging to shape? When I do that, say to a 7w x 11h the sides flatten out and the top and bottom get more pointed.

I messed around with nodes and dragging them but didn't get what I wanted.

You can see how inexperienced I am with corel draw. I am using X3 BTW.

Simple, Draw your oval or circle, Select it, look at the top of the screen. The size will show there. punch in the size you want it to be.

Brian,

Limited experience with Corel, but in Illustrator, you can select an object and "Transform" which allows you to type in X and Y measurements.

There must be something similar in Corel.

Edit: Thank you James. :-)

Brian;

Try the envelope tool, using a single curve. Let me know if you need more explanation than that.

I think the problem you are having is that any distortion that you apply to your ragged-edge circle changes the ragged-edge non-uniformly. You want to keep the uniform edge, but change the overall shape to an ellipse.

Play with the envelope tool by dragging individual corners and watch the results. I created two offset circles and then combined them. With the envelope tool, I was able to keep the distance between the two circle uniform, which should work the same for your circle.

I'm running V12 so I don't know how things have change with X3.

James, I want to keep the scalloped edge and if I just change the oval to the size I want it skews the scallops on the sides to flatter and the top and bottom become more pointed.

I need to keep them even around the oval.

Hi Brian,
It would be hard to get the outer ring from our rope design to do what you want, because it was hand drawn. (uneven)
So I quickly made up what you wanted, see if this will work for you.

I hope this helps.

Tom,

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!

Could you explain to me how easy it probably was to do?

You would think I was from Missouri.......even some Michiganders have to be shown :S

Make your oval using the circle tool, then text to line using an "O" or zero, kern the "O"'s using your shape tool until they overlap and weld together. Keep just the outer section and delete the rest. That will give you what you see.

See, even I understood that one, would have never thought of it on my own.
Thanks for the tip.
