If I could just do as my customers ask, I'd be much better off, but I can't. :-$

Here's what on tap for today, amongst other things:

Nextstunts.JPG

On the left, is a component of a replica of the Vince Lombardi Trophy, which will be engraved for a production company, for use in a movie.

Triple-chrome-plated, with a concave surface.

I was originally asked to diamond-drag the piece, after which the customer would try to use Rub 'n Buff to darken the lettering. That would have been easy enough, but NO.

I had to suggest routing the lettering into the metal for color-filling.
:S

On the right, is a Titleist, Scotty Cameron putter. Although you can't tell from the photo, there's a textured pattern on the face of the putter.

I was, once again, asked to diamond-drag a person's name onto the face of the putter, but NO, I had to advise against that, because the texture of the putter face would adversely affect the engraving.

Instead, I suggested routing and color-filling, so the new engraving would look very similar to the factory lettering.

I really need to convince myself that the customer's always right. :-$

As usual, most of the work will be performed on my trusty GTX-Universal pantograph, with no depth-control, other than by sight and feel.

If I'm successful, you may eventually see step-by-step photos. :-)

Wish me luck, I'm goin' in!

Barbara,

Thank you.

I wish I had half your good sense and caution.

I'm afraid it's too late for me to change. :-)

Quit "putting" around and get down to the "rough" work or you will never see the "green" and that may go into "devit" on this one.

So "tee-up" to the challenge and don't "shank it"

Boy this is fun ........

Your "shotgun" remark must he handled with an "approach" that just "kisses" the subject rather than putting us in the "bunker"

"Sand" Good?

I guess if you are not a member of the "club" you shoud "face" the hard fact that you are "handicapped" and take off the "apron". Don't just sit there "waggle" something in front of the "eagle" or the "marshall" will want his "iron" back..

The replica of the Vince Lombardi Trophy lived through the operation.

Here's a photo:

Lombardi.JPG

The piece turned out to be a plated resin item, which had a copper plating below the chrome plating, which helped me gauge the depth of cut, by seeing the change in color, from copper to the tan-colored resin.

The chrome plating on the "A" of Lombardi popped off, but that could have happened with any of the letters containing "islands."

A dab of silver paint will probably remedy that situation. The customer wants to do their own color-filling of the letters, which is fine by me.

Close enough for studio work. :-)
