This is a strange one.

The problem - Ok, let's drag out (draw) a plain old rectangle.
There it is... doesn't matter what size, let's say 1.0" x 1.5". The I grab a node to resize, let's say making it 1.5" x 1.5". Done.

BUT -- underneath the new 1.5 x 1.5 remains a duplicate but at the old dimension. And this will repeat itself, if you resize the square 10 times, there will be 9 other squares beneath it with the subsequent sizes.

Oye.

Any ideas on this one?

-Mike

Mike,

Long time, haven't heard from you in a while.

I have version 12 and don't see any problems doing this. The only thing I can say is use the F8 when booting Corel to reset to default.

You can check this under tools / options/ toolbox / pick tool

make sure that the shift and ctrl keys are set to coreldraw traditional if they are set to windows standard it will do what you are stating however you have to hold down the ctrl key when changing the size.

If it is set to the windows standard it leaves the original when you change the size.

set-it to coreldraw traditional and try it. (if it is different.)

otherwise you can try the F8 when you click the Icon and restore the corel defaults.

I'm using Version 12.

But, I just realized - I was incorrect in stating that when I resize by dragging a node that it duplicates.

The duplication happens when I manually type in a number in the "Object(s) Size" box (up/down - right/left arrows) where you can specify the dimension of the object.

So, you have a 1.0" x 1.0" square, then in the numeric window I type in 2.0" (any axis) the squareis then duplicated but with the newer dimensioned square over the old.

Laserman - I tried both options in the pick tool, but no joy.

The strange thing is I have CorelDraw 12 on 2 machines and they both started doing this. Nor do I recall fiddling with any of the set up options on either machine.

D'argh.

Hi Jeff!

Sounds like you have "Apply to Duplicate" enabled. The duplicate only occurs when you change the size by keying in a number and NOT when you drag as you originally stated?

There's a way to add a second Property toolbar that will still be there when you are working with text, but I've forgotten how I added it. The Apply to Duplicate button is there, but not on my default Property toolbar.

See if you have it on your property toolbar. It should be depressed if that is the problem. If it is not there: Go to Tools>Optimization and then click on Commands under the Customization tab. Under the Commands section on the right side of the pop-up window, click on the arrow to reveal the dropdown list. Select Toolbars. In the list, find "Duplicates State", click and drag it to your Property toolbar.

I think you ran into one of my problems. An employee decides that he likes something different and makes some changes, then everyone else is messed up. I had one do an F8 on boot because what he had at home was the original raw install. All of my special toolbars and settings were gone, including my alterations to some icons. Took a half hour to reinstall everything. In both Draw and Paint I have a few special toolbars with the commands that we use all of the time for the business, including in X3 the Save As having a red label on the disk to make it obvious.

Harvey;

Do you save (export) a backup copy of workspace when you get it to where you like it? Then, even if you have to do an F8, it just takes a second to restore it.

I am going to have to do that. I will be at the store and kiosk all next week. If I can just remember to do it this time.

I get distracted by constant emergencies and forget.

Carl, Harvey.
Thanks to your input I did figure it out. Not sure how I did it (on 2 machines!) and wasn't sure how to undo it ... so I had to do the F8 treatment.
(I didn't know about that either)
Gee, it's amazing what you can learn when forced to :-)

Thanks again everyone.

I have been trying to figure out how to do this on my own but sometimes can not see the trees for the forest. how does a person do this?

Thanks,

James;

There are several ways to get there in version 12 (don't know about the other versions):

Right click on your Toolbox toolbar (usually located on the left side of your screen) and select Customize>Workspace>Export Workspaces. Click on each of the boxes and select Save (or e-mail if you want to e-mail yourself a copy) Save the file somewhere where you will remember. The desktop will work, but the workspace tends to be a large file. Including a date in the filename is a nice touch.

You can also get at it by Tools>Customize then click on Workspace at the top of the list. Then click on Export, click all the boxes and click on Save........
