How about creating a project/ graphics page? That way when someone has a file they would like to share, they could up load it there, whether is an actual project or a graphic.

For example, the tennis racquet I uploaded could go there..and soon we would have a valuable collection of graphics created by members for members.....I cannot imagine it would be too hard to do...

Chuck,

Harvey and John had this feature set up quite a while ago. I assume it will be introduced with the new site.

I think most of the features are going to be part of the website, not inside the forum software. The forum and graphics library would each be separate features of the website.

We'll both have to wait for the unveiling to see the final product.

I do know that David now has a team of programmers working on the project, not just John Fish. You might say he has an IT Department now. ;-)

Chuck,

Putting up such a page would be easy enough.

What we want, is a well-organized, searchable database, which takes much more work and oversight.

It's in the works.

Why a new site and when will it be up and running?

Chuck,

Harvey has a good share of the database in place.

As to the launch of the subscription site itself, most of the people involved, (including myself), have their respective "day" jobs to maintain, therefore, some aspects are moving more quickly than others.

Some are ready now, while others are various stages of development.

Because of those factors, I've given up on predicting timelines.

I doubt many will complain about the extension of the complimentary access. :-)

Just one part of the learning curve. :-)

Fortunately, I have very capable people working with me.

Derek,

This discussion forum, with the exception of a software version upgrade, will remain essentially the same.

The "New Site" will be a combination of a new visual design and enhanced features, such as PicTutorials, TeleSeminars, Articles, Member Spotlights and services offered through the site, with some concepts being discussed, being logo design, copy writing for awards, custom layouts for laser engraving and/or sublimation jobs, live (small group) online graphics program assistance and, of course, the searchable graphics database we've discussed here.

As you can imagine, it's an ambitious undertaking, which has already required the paid services of web designers and programmers, and more will be required for authors, instructors and the people offering custom services.

The site will become subscription-based, with a nominal fee for general access. Some features will be included with a basic subscription, while others will be made available at additional cost.

Derek,

Thank you.

I'm very excited about the direction we're heading and happy to know you'll be coming along.

We're not content to be known as "only" an online message board, although this near-live, collective, well spring of information, will always be our heartbeat.

Derek,

Being in St. Joseph, I'm a short drive from you. Feel free to stop by my shop any time for a tour of what we do. Here is a Google Map to our place.

I love Weston, MO. We make it there 3 or 4 times a year. There is great potential for laser engraved gifts in the many gift boutiques in your town.

A great idea would be to create a collection of wooden ornaments incorporating the facades of the many historical Antebellum homes in Weston. You could introduce one collectible, historical home each year, tying the distribution in with a local charity some how.

Don't forget to engrave your name on the back or incorporate it into the front design.
