An odd print merge problem - Engraving Etc. Forum

I have been using Roy Brewers tutorials for print merging - great info! Tonight I was using it for a real project, not just practicing.
I created a 7x9 plaque template and have three fields that I was merging; name, title, text. When I merged them to send to the laser everything looks just fine in print preview. When I merged them to Adobe so I could send a proof to the customer, things went a bit haywire. The first plaque came out fine but every plaque after that had a LOT of characters missing in all three fields. I don't see a pattern, just random characters. The wierd thing is that it works fine in the preview of the output to the laser, it's only when I set the Adobe printer as the output device that it has problems.

Anyone have any ideas what it might be? I suspect a compatibility issue with Adobe and Corel, but I'm not sure.

Why not make a pdf out of Corel as a proof.. .... ... .. . Mark In the Great Northwest!

Mark, If it weren't for the print merge I would just 'save as' a pdf and send that, but, the print merge feature only works when you are actually "printing" the job so I have to print to the adobe printer device. That is how I think it has to be done, if you know otherwise, please let me know how you do it. Thanks! Gary

Gary,

I must say that I've never tried to Print Merge to the Acrobat Distiller, but I've never heard of any issues.

A couple other possibilities that sometimes make Corel's Print Merge to do "wacky" things:
1. be sure nothing is selected when you Perform the Print Merge
2. do not print from the Print Preview screen.

The problems I've seen from the above cautions are not what you describe, but could be related.

I'd sure be interested in the solution/explanation if you come up with one.

Thanks Roy, I really appreciate your tutorials, they were exactly what I needed to do the print merge. I truly couldn't have done it without you!

I'll post again if I ever figure out what the solution is.
