Do standard 1.25" New Hermes Engraving fonts work on
the Gorton 3u machine or is it a different system. Does it have a 1.25" copy slide or can you add a New Hermes one to it to use the fonts.

LJ,

Going back into time here, If I recall when I used to use the gorton there was a tray that accepted the large type in the top section and the small type in the lower center section. I don't know for sure if yours is set-up that way but the one I worked with was.

John,

It's been a long time since I've used a Gorton, but from what I can remember, the template area was a flat "plate", to which typical type slides can be affixed.

Thanks to you and laserman.

I figured it might be something like that but haven't ever seen one up close.

Somebody with the gorton asked me as I am selling off our pantograph fonts I no longer use on eby.

John,

If the Gorton guy doesn't take all the type, you may want to list the ebay link here. (Ad/Buy/Sell folder)

I was going to mention it here this weekend since
the first auctions are ending in a few days.
There are more engraving fonts than most people would need.

I think he must be just getting started since he just asked me
what a flx cutter was :/ .

To be legit I will add it to the buy sell folder!
Thanks

The Hermes type is a metric size maybe 30mm which is a little smaller than the gorton 1-1/4 copy blanks. It can be taped in place in the gorton table or the Hermes strip holders can be clamped or taped on the gorton table.
