Is the contract signed? I've come up with a better deal. Sorry it could not happen sooner. Contacts had to be made. Among other details, it's a comp'd reception room suitable for up to 100 people at the new Aladdin (convenient via Monorail. Sit down dinner, with servers, $25 a head. Hors' da Vores considerably less. Maybe back to "Beach" pricing.

If it's too late, no problem. Maybe next year.

Ed,
BUMMER DUDE! I'm sorry we did not know sooner. But the i's are crossed and the t's dotted and MY credit card charged. Lets keep it in mind for next year.
I didn't see your and Sharons name on the list? Are you going to be there? If not is SHARON going to be there? ( insert gregarious good natured busting your chops laugh here ;-) )

I totally understand. I just could not arrange the offer any sooner. A good friend ours' brother is a V.P. for a production company that essentially controls the showrooms for several of the major hotels, including reception rooms, etc.

As for your question regarding our attendance, we held our name off the list due to the closing of the Beach facility and all that that entailed. Although we WILL be at ARA and we WILL stop by Quark's or wherever after the show on Wednesday or Friday, we will NOT be attending the Thursday festivities. It ultimately got a bit too pricey for us.

We will opt for P.F. Changs on Thursday.

See you in Vegas.

Ed,

I was out on deliveries, yesterday afternoon, when you called. I'm sorry I missed your call.

Unfortunately, that was the first mention of your personal search for a suitable venue. If we had known, beforehand, that you were investigating an option, we certainly could have held off on a decision.

Thank you for the effort.

We'll miss you at the party, but we're sure to see you at Quark's or at the ARA show.

Although I won't list their names individually, I must also thank the 12 people who so graciously worked, on our behalf, in gathering information, crucial to making our final decision.

Thank you everyone!

Looking forward to another great time in Las Vegas. :-)

My call in to you was prior to checking status on the Forum. In fact, my call was intentional prior to going on the forum so that we could discuss where things stood, etc. prior to getting everyone all excited prior to sorting out details. Once I checked in on the Forum, I knew it was a done deal.

As I previously mentioned, it's no problem at all. My "personal search" was only 11th hour, when it appeared that a suitable venue was not coming together. It was purely coincidental that my coming up with something happened to be at the same time as the announced deal with Imperial Palace. At least it got done. I too, am appreciative of all the members that jumped in to assist. I was just a bit late in coming up with something but, as I mentioned, maybe the Aladdin facility will be available to us next year, if needed.

I look forward to seeing you and other attendees in Vegas; if not on Thursday, then at Quark's or on the show floor.

P.S. If there are badges being contemplated, are we doing our own, or can Sharon and I arrange to get badges?

Ed,
I hope you and Sharon can work it out so you can attend the beach party. It would not be the same without you.
I realize it is more than lasts years $18.00, but when you look at the menu and consider the door prizes it is really not a bad deal at all. Not to mention hobnobbing with all of your friends.

Chuck

Ed,

The timing was unfortunate.

The good news is, we'll have a whole year to establish next year's party location.

Who knows? Depending on our experience with the Imperial Palace, we may be back there.

I'll be making the namebadges this year, which will be available to our members, regardless of Beach Party attendance.

PS - Looking ahead to 2008, we'll have Peter Vasic and a contigent from Australia. Also, heavy rumor has it, the mysterious David Takes will join us. :-)

Thanks again,

Chuck,

I agree that the Beach Party won't be the same without Ed and Sharon.

I wouldn't count them out, just yet. :-)

I don't think the guy even exists....I think he's some made-up person, and he knows we'll find out if we ever meet him face-to-face.

Prove me wrong, Mr. Takes.

I don't know about you, but that makes two unknown people I have never seen together... Ooops, I DID see Jack's photo on the start page, but NEVER live and in person!

Personally Cody, I share the same opinion. What with technology and all, for all we know it could just be one big computer sitting there laughing at us....

Possibly.

I did have a phone conversation with a guy that CLAIMED to be him. It's entirely possible that it was just a computer-generated voice...hmmm.

Why doesn't he want to show himself to us? What are the possibilities?

Is he a cross-dresser?

Embarrassing cold sore that just won't go away?

Afraid he won't be the best-looking guy in the room? (Trust me, I'm used to that....you'll get over it.)

Just what IS IT that Mr. Takes (if he does indeed exist) is hiding? Inquiring minds want to know................. :/

Cody,
I too have had conversations with a voice that could well be computer generated. Given the state of artificial intelligence, it is a pretty safe bet that that voice is in fact computer generated.

The picture of the dog that the alleged Mr. Takes posted is probably a ruse.

As for THAT, I think it "might" be his nose. But I don't know for sure having NEVER seen him in public.
