There's nothing "too simple"!
Select the object with the "pick" tool.
Find your color docker (usually on the right-hand side of the screen). LEFT click on the "X" at the top of the docker. This removes the interior fill from the object.
If you see an outline of the object, then your work is done. If you DON'T see the outline, then RIGHT click on the BLACK color block. This step puts a black outline along your object edges. If you are like most of us, your default outline is going to be a HAIRLINE, which most laser drivers read as a "cutout" line.
