I recently upgraded to X3 and know enough to be dangerous but have never had any formal training. If this question is a little simple, I apologize in advance:

I have a complicated vector graphic which I would like to outline so I can vector it -- simply cut it out. Is there an easy way to create a hairline outline the hugs the contour of it?

There's nothing "too simple"!

Select the object with the "pick" tool.

Find your color docker (usually on the right-hand side of the screen). LEFT click on the "X" at the top of the docker. This removes the interior fill from the object.

If you see an outline of the object, then your work is done. If you DON'T see the outline, then RIGHT click on the BLACK color block. This step puts a black outline along your object edges. If you are like most of us, your default outline is going to be a HAIRLINE, which most laser drivers read as a "cutout" line.

You can pick the graphic then go up to EFFECTS and then click Create Boundary.

Thanks for the reply. Ah, if only it was that simple! :-)

The logo is quite complex and I need to raster it and then cut a vector outline around the whole thing. In essence, I want to draw a box around the logo and then "shrink wrap" it to outline the outside.
