Harvey-
So what you and Steve are saying is keep the Phoenix but add something about awards, engraving, recognition, custom products.

Ok, that I can do. That beats coming up with a whole new name! 8-O

Thanks for your input guys!

Wait, wait--we're not finished yet! The self proclaimed national logo expert has not spoken.

I love your logo. But if you say "custom awards and engraving" it's a lot stronger. Or "custom engraving and awards".

In the real world our logos don't mean very much--nobody but us cares. But your name is very important and what you're really after is when somebody says where can I find an engraver --the answer should be "call Phoenix."

One more thing and I'm finished. Good logos should be versatile. That is they should work on signs, web sites, invoices, business cards, vans, etc. In my less than humble opinion yours is quite good and all you need to change is what you offer in the way of service.

Great minds??????????????

When I started my business lasers were relatively new on the scene in all areas so when I named my business I did so with the idea of selling the name to somebody with a pocket full of cash and re-naming it later to something more in line with the service I was offering.

Like many of my ideas it just didn't happen. But the name's still for sale if anybody's interested. :S

Mike-
That is great advice. I think you're right, the name needed work more than the logo.
Everyone has given me great advice and encouragement. I am going to take all of these suggestions and blend them all into the perfect name and logo.

Thanks for your help Mike!!

Hi Becky,
David Takes is a master at this kind of work. You may want to throw some ideas around with him.

You are so right!! I love his work and I think he is so talented at what he does.

I also know he is pretty backed up right now too so I may pick his brain when things slow down to a hectic frenzy rather than a round the clock jam for him. :-)

Thanks for the advice Dee!

Joe and Toni Hayes would never speak to me again if I didn't help them first. I'll play with both logos a little bit tonight.

It might be one more day. I just got an e-mail from a promotional product customer requesting a quote on 8 different products. All they provided me were pictures of the items. The search begins. :@

Very nice logo, but it doesn't say engraving. To look at the design, I would first think Arizona (as previously mentioned) and then I would think that it was a graphics place for vehicle detailing or something along those lines.
Maybe gear your design more toward the bird aspect. Or maybe, since you obviously put alot of work into the logo, instead of scrapping it, you might take it and engrave it like on a piece of wood or something as see how that looks and then create your logo from that. That way, you are using the logo that you created, but it has a definate engraving look to it.
Sorry I am not much in the help department. Its late and I have a pregnant wife wanting oreos. If I think of anything else, I will let you know.
As far as the design though, its very nice.

Thank you for your input.

Now, take some advice from a mother of two....

FIND THE OREOS...lots of them. Don't do another thing until oreos are secure in hand.

You will live a lot longer. LOL :P
Thanks for the help

Here's the latest chapter in my ongoing name/logo conundrum.....

Headlines on today's paper....Caregivers Convicted of Abuse and Theft...
Apparently administrators and caregivers at a local care facility were abusing, mistreating and stealing from patients. The name of this facility...

Phoenix Services Inc. 8-O

Now, am I overreacting? Probably. Considering I live in a very small town in Pennsylvania that has 2 businesses with the name Phoenix, both of whom have very vague functions, I don't know.

Now, I considered PCI Engraving and Awards. Makes use of the Phoenix Custom Images without having to completely re-register and change it totally. And it gets the engraving in the title and clarifies it a little better.

The problem is, we have PCI Insurance. Is that a huge deal? Maybe. Maybe I couldn't use that because of ficititious name registry conflict even though I would still be registered as Phoenix Custom Images.

Maybe I should just scrap the whole Phoenix thing and start all over with a new name?...eww.. >.<
(now I am just thinking out loud of my options)

Any thoughts would be appreciated...
Thanks
Becky

Becky,

People have short memories. Today's headline will disappear from the newspaper and so will thoughts of the caregiver's crimes.

Bad news for those who need caregivers, but good news for the integrity of your business name.

Thanks David,
I appreciate your words of wisdom. I sort of figured that I may have been overacting but my lack of experience in the business world leads me to be overcautious rather than under.
Thank you

The name is the same does not surprise me one bit. I used to be Accu-Scribe, Inc. In the same town was Accu-Scribe Court Reporting, unknown to us until a bunch of our shipments never arrived. They were delivered there even with our address on the shipment labels. The trucker had to track down the shipments, pick them up, and deliver it to us. They had a half skid of 25 Oz beer mugs sitting there for about a month and never questioned it. Duh.
