There is a Hermes Enhanced Concept 2000 engraver on Ebay right now. Since we only have a laser we would like to get a mechanical engraver. Really we are looking for something more portable to take to craft fairs and such. Does anyone know if this machine is worth anything?

I know you have to start somewhere but I would probably not buy anything from someone who has zero feedback. I think I'd rather see some negative feedback instead of none.

Can't tell you anything about the machine but I'd be wary of purchasing anything under these circumstances.

Mike,

Fred Schwartz has a very high opinion of the Concept 2000, which was basically a Gerber vinyl plotter, fashioned into New Hermes' very first computerized engraving system.

Gary,
Thanks for the advice...I hadn't even gotten as far as looking at the seller...I'm just trying to find some options. We've spent some time on ebay though so I know what you mean about being careful!

If you're considering that machine, here's one from a bona fide source.

The machine looks rough from the one photo and the seller has no history on eBay....

Unless you are near RI and can see it in person, I would be very leery of this listing.

Hehe....I'd let Dave Takes check it out. He has a good "nose" for eBay scams.

Stay far away...If you have any problems with the equipment. Getting parts for it will be tough. It is one of New Hermes first engravers. Most of the times parts for older engravers cost more also..
