I am trying to produce a logo for engraving using Corel Trace.
My problem is that when I engrave (from corel draw) I get the background as well, could any members point me in the right direction,
Thanks
Jim

When you trace the bitmap be sure that "remove background" is selected. If you trace from CorelDraw the result will be back on the same page you started from and right on top of your bitmap. You need to select the drawing and drag it away from the bitmap then delete the bitmap if you're finished with it.

You will probably have some more work to do on the trace before it's ready to engrave.

I would consider having Pete Bertrand convert it to vector format. I had him do a file for me last week and it seemed the file he created must have crossed paths with the payment I sent, it was back that fast!

I know I'm just one of the many posts on this board that extol Pete's skills, but I'd like to add my comments to them as well...I can't imagine wanting to trace a bitmap myself, when Pete does it so well and so fast. I don't even give it a second thought and send it to him. He does superb work!

Jim ... when you import your graphic into Corel then click on it and perform the trace function what you are left with is the entire bitmap traced out. What I do at that point is to click on the 'break apart' function under 'arrange' then just click on the line(s) that makes up your background lines. After that, I just select the whole graphic (after you are done with any additional editing, ie: removing or adjusting the lines) and select 'group' under the 'arrange' menu ... and you have what you want: graphic without the background.
Hope that is what you were referring to in your inquiry.
