Customer dropped off a bronzed ice skate and wants to have it made into a perpetual trophy - on a large walnut base with engraving, etc. She claims not to care how we mount it to the base, but we all know that if I use something that doesn't look elegant, she is going to be unhappy with it as will I.
I'm hoping someone here has done this before or might have an idea of an elegant way to do it. It's a kid's ice skate and the widest part is the blade which is around 11". Ideally there would be some decorative clamps that would mount to the base and have slots that a portion of the blade could go in. If there was a way of setting a set screw to tighten the blade, that would be best. I am envisioning a bracket such as that might be used by someone wanting to mount a sheet of glass vertically above a counter or room divider. |
