Peter,

I have a sales rep in a completely different state than our main headquarters. Her focus is awards and promotional products. She has been with me for about three years now and is doing a tremendous job.

By that I assume you mean outside of the store/showroom sales people who call on customers.

We don't have any outside sales people that sell only the awards type things.

We do have about a half dozen asi sales people who sell the awards and things we make in house if it meets the customers needs which happens regularly. But their main focus are asi products made elsewhere.

We have 2 full time in store sales people and a few others that fill in if it gets busy from the office, asi or production staff.

We have lady who sell promotional products for us. She is experienced and does a nice job. She works on commission basis. We have only been working with her for a few months but all has went very well. Finding the right person is the key.

We used to have a guy working for us on straight commission. His main focus was to visit schools and large companies to establish new business.

I think he'd be more of a business development person than a sales rep.

As was stated previously, finding the right person is key. He wasn't the right person, so he no longer works for me. We now have one part-time employee that only works in the shop a couple of days each week. This allows ME to go visit our customers, and to drum up new business.

I have a half time salesman... since we do not have a commercial storefront he sells half time and works in the shop the other half. All awards and small signage, rubber stamps, and so forth.

We have four. There's me...myself...and I. And then, there's Sharon. She consistently out performs the other three. I hate that!! :O)

Actually, we have many friends and acquintances that think we're BOTH nice and BOTH good looking. Just not any in the Illinois/Missouri/Kentucky triangle area.......and possibly IN or ON Maui. ;-)
