I have a customer who wants me to cut "nairoc" which is the fake corian used to make pens with. Does anybody know the capability of the laser engraver to do that??

Let me know. Thanks!!

From what I can find on the net, "Nairoc" is actually Corian spelled backwards and is not an actual product, but a generic name for Corian and similar laminate materials. Most of those are acrylic or polyester-resin based. If they can tell you the actual brand of the material, then you could check on what it really is made from.

Becca,

It is my understanding that Corian, Fountainhead, Nairoc are specific (brand names) of the material called Solid Surface. It, like the others, are "fake rock" instead of fake Corian.
It is my experience they all engrave very crisply but they do not discolor. Almost always, you'd want to color fill with something (acrylic paint or rub-n-buf).

Jack Bean is/was the President of Nairoc (I think he was in Hurst). When he was making pens out of the material he used a laser to engrave them and then color filled them. If I remember correctly the only problems they had was nobody was 'well trained' on using the laser, and I wasn't familiar with the model they had.

Are you wanting to laser material with the 'flakes' in it or plain colors? Some of the heavy gold flaked material was hard to find a 'good contrast' for color filling.

Everybody is correct in telling you that is is the same material as corian, so you can get scraps of corian and test with before lasering a pen. Did you buy the company?
