...when you'll see the price of Sublijet and ArTainium sublimation ink increase.

Not a price increase I'll ever have to worry about. :P

Steve,

I wouldn't be surprised to see Texas Original Graphics (TOG) follow suit, but they'll remain a bargain by comparison.

David,

You're not alone in that sentiment, though, judging by the number of people plunking down for sublimation equipment, at today's Coast Graphic Supply seminar, the quasi-monopoly isn't concerned.

By how much is the question David.

Given the profit potential, ( given that prices of EVERYTHING will ONLY continue to rise), one MUST raise their prices.....so far the cost of materials has not been an issue.....given the perceived value of the product.

Given the cost of the substrates and the cost of the ink when you consider mugs or t-shirts I think you've pretty well priced yourself beyond the competitive products.

I'm selling what I can sell of my sub. equipment and supplies and will use only contracted transfers or my own color laser transfers.

With my volume sub. just isn't worth the headache.

Chuck,

I asked about 125 ml bottles of ArTainium ink and was told they'll go up by $10 each.

Not sure about the cost of cartridges etc.

If their websites have been updated, you could go to places like www.johnsonplastics.com www.novachromeusa.com (Sublijet) and www.laserreproductions.com (ArTainium) and find out first-hand.

That's why I don't consider mugs and T-shirts. :-)

Actually, mugs can still be profitable, even with the price increase.

David:

I thought so too but there is breakage and scorching and rejects for various reasons. When they turn out well they are great but I had too many customers say they can buy mugs for $2-3-4. I just can't get there.

Being home based is a detriment relative to sublimation as well. Anyway, I just put my stuff up for sale. I didn't list the mug press but that may be next.

Mike,

I saw your ad for sublimation equipment.

When people say they can buy $2-$4 mugs, they're probably not talking about a one-piece custom order. $20-$25 is what many are willing to pay, for that type of product.
