Thanks

Hi Dave,

Pictures such as Farm Animals, Horses, Dogs, Cats, Patriotic, Lakes, Streams, Deer, Ducks, Bears, etc. I came across a web site where they sold engraved signs with customers choice of a full color oval metal plaque attached. They were very nice. I would like to try to do the same and see if I could sell them in my store.

Thanks,

Don,

Are the plaques meant for outdoor use?

If not, it would be easy to use a form of digital imaging to decorate the metal plates.

Sounds like something you could do yourself using either dye-sub or OEM laser transfer.

Hello David,

Yes, The signs will be used outdoors. I could easily do them myself for indoor signage, but was hoping to find a source to purchase them already done so I could attach them to my wood signs.

Dave,

I'm gonna try OEM Laser Transfer tommorrow. I just purchased a Heat Press and transfer paper, but so far I am quite disapointed with the tests I have turned out. I'm certainly not blaming the process, It's my very first go at it and I just need to learn what I'm doing. Since the Laser Engraved Signs are easy to do, and since so far I am terrible at OEM Heat Transfer, I was hoping I could find a source to purchase the pictured inserts for my signs.

If they are going to go outside then that may limit the types of image you could use. You might at least need to coat the images with some kind of UV protective coating.

Mick,

Thank You for your generous offer. I'll take you up on it. I know you are extremely busy and didn't want to pester you, but since you offered....

The good news is.. After trying a half a dozen different heat and time settings this morning, I finally got a very nice Transfer onto Aluminum. I set the heat at 300 for three minutes. I waited until the substrate was just slightly warm and then removed the transfer.... And Success!!!

I do have a few questions I'd like to ask here on the Forum. First, could you post or email me a general settings guide for different materials? I printed one that Harvey did and it has been a big help, but I need all the help I can get. Also, would it be a good idea to get a Convection Oven and put my finished transfered jobs into the oven for awhile? I want to transfer photos to metal plates (brass, aluminum, etc.) and then attach the metal plates onto signs that I have either laser engraved or Sandblasted. Do you know if the VersaTrans Transfers will hold up outdoors if I apply a spray UV protectant like Frog Juice or Krylon UV-Resistant Clear, or Clear-Jet? And Finally, where to purchase a tape dispenser for the heat tape?

Thanks again Mick

When I got into a bind, I used Scotch brand 'Magic Transparent Tape'. Standard Scotch tape. On metal it works well. On acrylic it is perfect since the back of the acrylic does not really get hot.

On metal is sometimes is a little difficult to remove when the metal goes down to room temperature.
