You mean that we might finally discover the 'Northwest Passage'?
I am not making light of the change in climate, as minor as it is, but it is minuscule compared to the changes that have occurred over the past centuries since recorder time. The Nile valley was the plushest area there was, now it is dessert. Other areas that were unlivable are now fertile areas. The Vikings had a thriving colony on Greenland till the minor ice age that is finally ending. (Ever wonder why it is called Greenland?)
If you go back to prehistory you will also find out that this is the most stable our climate has ever been. Nothing like the 45* changes in a 10 year period.
This fact alone may be why civilization had a chance to grow.
