Well, today was training day with my new Vision MaxPro, with more training to come.

I must say I am very impressed not only with the engraver, but with the support and the training....

Howard, ( the vision rep in the islands) spent 5 and a half hours with me today...patiently explaining VisionPro 7 ( EngraveLab 7), going over the pendant operation, bits, proceedures, letting make my mistakes and generally helping me learn the new system and software.

WOW what a difference training makes. And it was included....

Because of the training I received today my whole idea of and attitude toward EngaveLab has changed substantially....it might have something to do with the fact that now I have had three years working with Corel and understand a bit more about what the software "should" do, but I think it had MORE to do with having someone there to answer questions, show me the basics and explain where some of the "hidden" features of engravelab are...than anything.

Had I had this level of training when I bought my laser, my learning curve would have been substatially shortened. I probably STILL would have gone to Corel, but I would not have had such icky feelings about EngraveLab.....which I NOW know, is a feature rich program.

I guess my point in all of this is to bring home, especially to the newbies on the forum ( I still consider myself a newbie by the way) the IMPORTANCE of training and support in any decision you make regarding tools, software and equipment.

Anyway, it was a FUN day, and I now have a new tool in my arsenal.

As SOON as you respond to my last PM and my Last email and tell me you got the box of tile samples I sent you and are going to help me fix the problem...you will get a personallize OEM transferred, laser cut, rotary engraved invitation on a sublimated plate.....

David, Yes, the "fear factor" has diminshed, but there is soooo much more to rotary/diamond drag engraving than there is with laser engraving, that I have to train my self not to forget the steps.....i know after awhile it will become second nature...but for now, it is quite bit to remember.... When we were at the show looking at it, you mentioned that you wished you were ready for a new machine.......you might want to gear up to get it next year, because it has a spiffy little feature that you will like..... The machine and software actually MEASURE the engraving area by way of a laser tracking system....you input upper left and lower right, of the area you want to engrave, the machine the traces that area, and creates the table size in engravelab. You then hit ctrl-k and it centers the graphic/text in the middle of the engraving area. Hit engrave and go...... The proximity sensor is automatically disabled when using the rotary attachment, the pump starts automatically, AND if you forget to set the surface, the machine will NOT start.....until you do. These features maybe be common on other machines but this is the first time I have used one, so it was pretty impressive. Chuck,

The laser measuring feature didn't escape my attention and I thought it was great. Some machines come with it and some don't, but I think it will become very common.

As I've nentioned in the past, although the learning curve for rotary/drag equipment is steeper, once its operation becomes second-nature (and it will) you'll be a highly-skilled technician.

With newcomers to the A&E industry buying primarily laser engraving equipment, you'll be in a position to create niches, where they can't (or won't want to) follow.

Exciting times ahead. :-)

He used to do engraving, mostly metal items...and he was telling me he stopped because of the "odd" requests from folks......the kind of things YOU seem to thrive on.....anyway, it made me think of you, so I told him the tale of the "Stunt Engraver"........ I may need to become your prodigy .......... :O

Sorry Got your tiles, used your files, printed my samples on 4 differedt types of tiles, and sent them back the next day via FedEx. Watchy for them. Times/temps and tile types are all written on the back of the tiles. I think the problem is fixed, but you need to see the tiles to confirm it. I forget about PM's and never check for them.
