Is there a special place for Metaza questions or discussions. I think I have just about got it figured it out. But when I do I see some one with one on that just looks great and don't know how they did it. It took me 2 months to figure out they do better on a white back ground.
Own Hillsborough Sign & Trophy have a roland 300 and a mextaza

Many tricks to getting a good image. Some I hold dear to me. I get far better results than anything Roland has on display.

Of the ones I will disclose are:
Use an MPX-50. The stylus has a better included angle than the 60.
Get the contrast right on the face, the heck with the rest of the image.
When you set the controls in Dr. Metaza consider the lowest four grades of near black to really be black.
Consider the lightest four grades shown to be a washout white.
There is a very small range that will show different shades of grey.
Set your speed to between 8-10 mm/sec, not the preset of 15 or more.

Let me know if this helps you.

There is an MPX-50, MPX-60, and now an MPX-70.

I have heard from people with the 50 and 60 that the output from the 50 is better. The 70 used stylus packs of carbon filament. Ewen one gets dull you switch to the next. The packs are expensive on a per piece basis. I forgot how many impacts they quoted for each stylus, but it takes about 80,000 per dog tag, and the life was not good. Then again the quality diminishes as they wear so when it gets to replacement time the quality gets near unacceptable. I far prefer the diamond tip with the 50 and 60.

One other thing, you do not find the 50 on Ebay, that says something.

Looks like the 50 was discontinued. In Roland's support section it's considered a "legacy" product rather than a current product.
