Tomorrow's the day!

I'm putting the final touches on what I feel will be very effective examples of what can be done with sublimation, with respect to the awards industry.

In a bold move, not only will I be demonstrating epoxy doming, but the students will actually sublimate and dome their own projects. >.<

Actually, it's not very difficult, although there are some nuances, which I'll pass on to the eager attendees. :-)

Lighting isn't very good for taking photos at the moment, but after the presentation, I'll share some of the examples with you.

Lip Chip Solutions (Dave and Lori) will regretfully not be able to attend the ARA International Awards Market 2007 dinner party. We hope that everyone has a great time. We will be at the ARA Show all three days of the Expo at the "Coast Graphic Supply" booth, and we hope to see you there.

Lip Chip Solutions / Dave / will be working as and Agent (on behalf of ICI Imagedata (Pictaflex 3D Vacuum Press)) to introduce the new technology with one of our first distributors "Coast Graphic Supply". When you come by to pick up your Engraving Forum badge, be sure to stop by and get a demo on the Pictaflex 3D Vacuum Press.

Medical Manufacturing and Design West, was the place for you, if you wanted to get a glimpse of a massive trade show for that industry.

Lots of robotic machinery and testing equipment, to mention a very few items and processes that were on display.

I attended for awhile yesterday, mainly to get a look at the Jimani Inc. "Langolier" fiber laser workstation. Very compact, very versatile and a very effective piece of equipment. Approx. $50K

While I was there, I spoke to James Stanaway at the Epilog booth and got a sneak preview (and a brief demo) of their 20 watt Fiber Marker, which you'll have an opportunity to see at the ARA show, next week. Approx. $40K

A front door is a feature of the machine, to make easy, the process of loading/unloading (templated) trays of parts.

I was hoping that Universal Laser Systems would be there, so I could get a glimpse of the mysterious new piece of equipment they'll be unveiling at the ARA show, but no luck.

Guess we'll have to wait until next Thursday. :-)

ARA Las Vegas Online Registration

I don't know the cut-off date for online registration to the ARA LV show, but take it from a veteran, you don't want to wait until the opening day of the trade show (exhibit hall) of Feb. 22, 2007 to register.

Why?

It's almost too painful to recall, but I'll attempt to work past the pain.

1) Waiting in long lines.

2) After running the gauntlet of the long registration line, finding that all the "pencils" provided to fill out the registration form are either too dull to use, or the tips have been broken off.

3) The agony of watching people who already have their passes, sail through the trade show doors, to be first to see the abundance on display.

That's all I can bear to recall, but do yourself a favor and register beforehand. :-)

Those of you attending the Vegas ARA show may also want to take in the Vegas Gift show. It starts the day (Sunday) after ARA closes. If you carry gift items and are presently buying them from engraving suppliers you may be very surprised at the lower prices you will find at this show.

Here is a link http://www.merchandisegroup.com/merchandise/index.jsp

When I do this show I start at the Sands and then go on to the Mirage. I only do the other venues if I have the time as I have not had much success there.
