Mike's advice got me to exactly where I needed to be. I just wish Gravostyle98 could do the same thing.

All text controls and node manipulation work exactly as expected. The only thing I could not find was the setting for the distance from the enclosure to the text. But who cares, it is a minor thing to manipulate the size of the container before hand.

Text to path is a totally different function. I wanted to draw the oddball shape of an award and have the text automatically stay away from the inside edges, which this does.

Dave, thanks for the help. I'd already tried again before I saw that you had replied.
Looks like after I got rid of the thousands of nodes it worked just fine. I still don't know why. What appeared to be 3 lines turned into 2 (that's what it should have been) and lasered just fine.
I need to remember to go back after tracing and clean up the nodes.

Hi Carl,
Thanks for your help and your time in resolving my problem.
There's only supposed to one line (no inner and outer), so I'm going to take the easy option and have individual lines overlapping each other. I'll order them in object manager to optimise the path of the laser.

Once again, thanks for your help as I've a better understanding of the process now

Regards

I've commented about this topic in the past, but I'll repeat it here.

Bitstream Navigator is VERY buggy and will install and uninstall fonts while browsing fonts - even though you didn't tell it to. As you also noticed, it crashes - a lot.

There are several reliable font viewers and intallers out there. I have been using Font Expert for a few years now with virtually no problem. There are many freeware font viewers available too.

At least with XP, Corel 12 & X3 do not need to be closed and then re-opened to recognize a newly-installed font, but many software programs do. I install and uninstall fonts every day either with FE or via Fonts in the Control Panel. (You can also select Start, Run and type Fonts and it will launch the folder.) It's been several weeks since I rebooted the XP machine or closed Corel and it never has problems recognizing a newly installed font.

I have found over the years that dragging and dropping the font into the system font folder is not always a reliable install into the registry. It works most of the time, but not all of the time.
