There is a reset routine that you can try. I don't have it with me right now. You can search for it on the internet or I know it has been posted on Dyesub.org. search for 1280 reset procedure. This is when the lights are blinking like a railroad crossing. green on red off, the red on green off etc.

A blinking red light can mean one of the ink cartridges is not seated correctly. Pull each one out, take a look at the contacts in the printer to make sure nothing is broken. Reseat each ink cartridge.

You can also go to epson.com troubleshooting page. They will have you enter which lights are blinking and what pattern they are blinking. It will tell you what they think is wrong.

quote: I learned something today from Matt Woodhouse at Johnson plastics.... you my already know it, but I thought I would share it with you just in case you do not.

In Corel, when you power clip a bitmap into a shape, corel treats the power clipped image as a vector graphic.

If you are printing a color image, say, for sublimation, it is best to convert the powerclip image to a bitmap and then print. It prints faster, and you have better color control when you do.

Kevin, just thought I'd let you know. Today 'my problem' (see previous posting) happend again today. So I decided to try your 'fix'. I turned off the printer unplugged it from the wall for 50 minutes. Came back in and plugged it back in. Same settings as before. I have to just keep wasting ink, until the machine thinks I'm completely out. It's a pain, after I finish this job I'll try to find Harvey's fix. Just wanted you to be aware that the unpluging doesn't reset the chip.

The recent news of a Sublijet and ArTainium (essentially the same company) sublimation ink price increase, (Apr. 2, 2007) may be offset for some, by the fact that the term "wide format", arbitrarily dictated by Sawgrass to be 42", has now been lessened to 24", the true starting point of wide format printing, according to a Mutoh representative, to whom I once spoke.

What this means, is people who own a printer with a print width of 24", can now (legally) buy ink by the liter, which is priced substantially less than cartridges and smaller increments, i.e. 125 ml, 500 ml.

Chuck,

in polyester there is a little difference but not much you can get true colors in polyester material and you can tell when you are getting good colors or not, when you see an acceptable result then you can try in tile, I think this way you will save some money, specially you that pay such expensive deliveries, another advantage you have in using polyester material is like in this case, you can save different images with different profiles and print them together and compare.

Also try the Epson Adobe RGB (1998)

Hi Dave ,

I have another question for you I have a inkjet printer Epson stylus photo R300 for dvd and cd printing (i got it free)
Can I use paper in it ?
Can I use the paper for sublimation with it?
Since the ink print on dvd it might print on something else ?
I don't want to try just in case that the paper get stuck and damage my printer.
I met a Dave Miller in Alberta years ago any cousin of yours?

quote: Kind of an odd way about the free market eh? Sometimes even when it brings a better process to market....it sits on the sideline because it's not as profitable as the old way.

You are correct Brian, the major players in sublimation that are selling inks, paper, substrates etc. now would see all of those sales dwindle to the sales of paper only. That is why they will not sell the CLTT (OEM Transfer)
process, no money to be made.
