You would think so. Though support for file formats usually takes some time and often is locked down early in the development of a program. CS2 came out about 7 months before X3, but possibly by then Corel had already locked down their import filters.

On the other hand, since there are problems, you'd think they'd improve the importing with one of their updates. Come to think of it, I haven't tried importing any native Illustrator CS2 files into X3 since the latest update to X3 a few weeks ago, so it's always possible that they did fix it. I guess I should test that.

Josh,

What I used to do was slop the paint on and then take an old phone book squirt some lighter fluid onto a section usually covering a full page then after the enamel had dried for about 15 minutes run the plate over the phone book page soaked with lighter fluid. It pretty much removes most of the excess paint in one swipe across the book if you need more just turn the page and wipe again then just let it dry and wipe off the rest of the film.

Now keep in mind I did this over 20 years ago and it worked pretty good back then.

Green screens (and blue screens) are not a simple thing to master. The color must be a very specific hue to work well, and even lighting is critical, using lights of a specific color temperature.

For most product photos a better alternative for dropping out backgrounds, at least for print or web images, is a white screen with a lot of light pointed at it, but moved back from the product so it doesn't rear light the object. That way the background washes away into pure white.

Glenn,

I've recently become a proponent of spinning the diamond gravers.

Haven't tried it on everything, but find it works wonders on coated items, like some coated writing pens. It also makes a better cut for oxidizing trophy brass.

I'm happy Baz told you about our forum. We're getting quite a few Aussies on board. Some are threatening to band together and come to next year's ARA Las Vegas show. :-)

If you're in the mood to meet and party with some of the people of this forum, while in Vegas, take a moment to check out this thread:

http://engravingetc.org/forum/index.php?webtag=EE&msg=5261.1

A lot of posts there. After reading the first post, you may want to fast forward to the 200+ post, to see where we stand.

Acrobat is not cheap, so there may be another solution that will do what you need for less. Or maybe a used copy from ebay would be enough.
