Back in the days of v.9 (I think it was 9) the academic didn't include all of the clipart and graphics cd's.......

Boz ... i have read in much earlier posts of people buying very 'dated' versions of Corel Draw from ebay or wherever just for then turning around and buying the lastest version.(upgrade). When I just bought my upgrade of Ver13 it had all the books and cd's with it. Plus on the corel site right now they are offering quite a few extras with it for free right now.

John,
I have version 12 and have read somewhere that it's better to wait two years for your next upgrade.
Do you think that version 13 is so much better that I should invest in it?
14 should be just around the corner at the rate they have been changing things.
I have heard that people are still using version 9 with no problems.
Just curious.

Hi Barb,
I just upgraded from v12 to 13. I like the trace function a lot better in 13 but I don't like the zoom out function as well as in 12. In 12 you can hit F3 to zoom out to your previous zoom. I am having to learn to work around that. For me, the trace upgrade was worth the change.

What do they cost in the stores. I looked in Best Buy and they didn't have it.

If you're an ARA member, you can get the ARA discount for the X3 upgrade (Corel Graphics Suite - including Draw, Paint & more) for $139.

Thanks Jeanette, but I am not a member.
I guess I will stay with 12 for a while. I still do not have my feet on the ground and do not want another expense if it isn't necessary.
I would like the trace, but I can get along with this one for a while longer. You don't miss what you don't have right???
Thanks for you help and suggestion,
Barbara

Hi PenMan,
I responded to the F3 zoom issue here
I tested it on my X3 machine finally, and it appears to work fine.
Let me know if you need clarification on the instructions.

Hi Barb ... I found the X3 version much better in many ways (many listed on this post) enough to warrant for me the upgrade and I typically don't do the 'upgrade' thing very often on any piece of software. In fact, I had downloaded the trial version of X3 when it was offered and I didn't like some things with it and it even caused my computer to lock up. BUT after reading everything people were saying about it and looking at the upgrade price I just 'went for it' and have been immensly satisfied with it.
Just go to Core's website and check their latest offer for upgrades.. its around $139 or so, plus they are offering some additional software for free. I opted for the version with the disk and it included all the manuals with it.
Good luck!

Thanks John,
I will take a look at it.
Haven't made up my mind yet.

Thanks Shaddy. I made the modification you suggested and it works perfectly. Now I like X3 a lot better. How did I miss your suggestion the first time? Probably reading too fast I guess. Thanks again!
